Dr. William J. Somers
Dr. William J. Somers received his undergraduate degree in biology from New York University. He completed his medical education at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico and Fifth Pathway Program, University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He was a Clinical Research Fellow, Division of Urology at New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center and completed his Urology residency at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York. He completed his surgical training at the Department of Surgery, New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, New York. From 1990 to 1997 he was an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Ohio State University and since 2000 has held a clinical assistant professorship of Urology at the Ohio State University. Dr. Somers is presently the Chairman of the Urology Department at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Somers is a board certified urologist and a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology, He is past President of the Central Ohio Urological Society and a member of the American Urological Association, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology, American Society of Andrology, Sexual Medicine Society of North America, Society of Male Reproduction, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Somers has been published in numerous medical journals and is a guest reviewer for the journal "Urology" He regularly gives presentations on his areas of expertise to Ohio physicians. He participates in clinical research studies to develop new drug treatments.
Dr. Somers keeps his microsurgical skills up to date by participating in the operating room with other microsurgical experts. Here at Riverside Hospital, Dr. Somers practices new techniques in the microsurgical lab.
